Kanthapuram AP Abooabcker Musliyar, the prominent Sunni Islamic Scholar in India, has been selected as the Grand Mufti of India, a position which holds the supreme authority to give Fatwas, in relation to Islamic religious matters authoritatively. The title Grand Mufti was given in the Gareeb Nawaz peace conference organised in Ramleela Maidan, New Delhi, under the predominant Sunni organisation in the country All India Thnzeem Ulamae Islam.
By achieving the position Knathapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar is authorised a principal authority for giving Fatwas according to the different Sunni school of thoughts in India. The Grand Mufti is a position which is legally owning all the Muslim lived countries as the highest authority of Islam, which was instituted since the time of Usmania Khilafat.
In the mass conference, assembled at Ramleela Maithaan Hasrath Mannan khan Razvi Barelvi, the potential Sufi scholar from Uttar Pradesh honoured Kanthapuram, entitling him the Grand Mufti in the presence of thousands of believers who gathered there from 23 states. Dr. Sayed Ameen Miya Barakthi, the founder of Aligarh Al Barakath Institute, Sayed Javed Miyan Nakhshabandhi, Sheikh Hazrath Sayyid Babr Ashraf, the vice president of Ajmeer Darga, Mufthi Shfaq Husain Qadiri, the national President of Tanzime Ulama, Sayyid Mueenudheen Jelani Mumbai and Sayyid Ibraheemul Kahleelul Buqari talked in the function.
Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar is the most notable internationally acclaimed scholar from India. He is the General Secretary of All India Sunni Scholars Associations since 1993. Also, he was continuously named the list of most notable 500 Muslim personalities in the world since 2010 by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Amman Jordan. he is the senior member of Royal Alul Bait Institute, an intellectual body of Muslim scholars internationally reputed and he is the prime scholar from India who has been invited to talk in the world Islamic scholars meets in the past 3 decades. In 23 states of India, hundreds of educational institutes, including 30 English medium schools for poor students in Jammu Kashmir itself are run under Kanthapuram. He has authored 50 scholarly books on Islam and its historical and social aspects in Arabi, Urdu and Malayalam Languages and many of them were published from Arab countries.
Kanthapuram Talked in the function stressing that Sunni Muslims in India should be worked in a united platform irrespective of jurisprudential differences. The Sunni movements in India will attempt to strengthen peace in the country along with developing the various field of education and humanitarian works. Cooperating with recognizable international Muslim bodies scores of projects will be implemented for the favourable development of the community.
